Insider’s Guide to... Brighton, Sussex
by Village England luxury leather hand bags
The lovely Phoebe, a Brighton local, has given us all the insider knowledge on where to eat and what to visit in this sunny Sussex town.
You should visit Brighton because…
It’s small enough to cover by foot whilst being packed with interesting things.
To experience Brighton like a local…
Visit Birling Gap near Eastbourne. This National Trust beach is known for its nudists, as well as being a lovely shingle beach set against a dramatic (and rapidly retreating) cliff face.
The best thing about the town is…
It’s forever changing – there’s always something new to discover.
The best place to eat is Marmalade. This Instagram-worthy café is all distressed wooden tables and chalk boards, big bowls of brightly-coloured salads and cakes groaning with mascarpone icing.
What you won’t find anywhere else: Mod clothing shop Jump the Gun. If you’re lucky you’ll catch the rock’n’roll dancers in full get-up outside the shop. It sits on North Laine, full of independent boutiques and market stalls.
What to take home… A stick of rock.
